I can't decide whether the B-40 looks positively agricultural or it's something that came out of a Russian missile silo.

I was gifted a FRG-7700 which embodies the late 70's look very nicely, but I am quite partial to the look of the NRD-545. Nothing says eighties or nineties like a nice vacuum fluorescent display.

My vote goes to the JRC-545 as well. The NRD-535D comes in as a close second.

That Racal RA17 should definitely be in a proper cabinet, otherwise it would not be a tabletop. A rack with the RA17 and all possible add-ons such as the SSB adapter and the LF converter would no longer be a tabletop.

As for best looking as opposed to best performing: Anything with Nixie tubes for frequency read-out?
