Didn't build it, but checking infos it seems to work pretty well

it's a vertical antenna for the ADS/B (aircraft) band which, looking at the NEC models I found offers a gain of around 5dBi, looking at the pics at the above URL, the antenna seems to be relatively easy to put together and, once enclosed inside a "plastic" pipe it should resist pretty well to winds, as for the connector, the model shown above uses a SMA connector, but I think that a BNC or even an N connector may be a better choice
