SW Station In Russia?

A friend And I were discussing HFCC Data earlier this week and how some stations have been registering but haven't been on in years, if not a decade or more.
We came upon Radio Russia's registration, talking "When was the last time they were on?"
Then it made me realize sometime back in 2016, Russia was on SW! But it was only a few weeks.. it was a reactivation of one of their sites and my fuzzy memory recalls it was a relay of a domestic network, "Radio Sahka" I think.. I even got a QSL from them, but lost it.
What I'm remembering is the activation was for a special reason. .but i dont remember what that reason was.. just it was some kind of news or weather event.
Can anyone fill in the gaps of my fuzzy memory? Thomas Witherspoon at swling.com says he vaugely remembers, but couldn't find any articles on it, but I had to have heard about this somewhere, because I logged them from Alaska.
Thank you ever so kindly!
