ARRL Field Day This weekend! 2023

Post by N3BE »

This weekend is the 2023 ARRL Field Day event, when most participating Hams head off grid to operate,
If you navigate to:
https://www.arrl.org/field-day-locator
You can use your zip code to find field day encampments near you.

and,,,
If you do visit a site, ask if they have a GOTA (Get On The Air) rig you can operate.
Even without a license,
You get to operate under the supervision of a licensed Ham,
and they get FIVE points (instead of one or two) for each GOTA contact.
WIN WIN!!

In the past few years I really enjoyed the bands crowded with portable US stations on that weekend. This year the condx really didn't play along though! :)

You have that right. Propagation was not the best combined with thunderstorms in the mid-atlantic to new-england states took a toll on participation. I myself only got to work about six hours of the event. Having lost an IC756ProII to storm related static discharge some 20 years back, no rig is online, hooked to an antenna, or to power, when its stormy around here. (and its still a crap-shoot during a thunderstorm). 73 es DX de N3BE
