Italy is back on MW!

Post by 13dka »

Yesterday I spend an hour in the twilight dialing through MW at the dike and found a station playing some really cool disco funk stuff on 927 kHz - "Power 927" from Milano. "AM Italia", the IRRS Nexus station had some English talk program on 1323. Next great music stop was "Z100" also from Milano on 1350 kHz and I was glad that I had my "big" cans in the car for proper bass. :) There are numerous low power stations from Italy in between, not necessarily reaching all the way to N-Gernany but still great when you're in Italy I guess! So far, the disappearance of the public broadcasters always had a bunch of private and pirate stations in tow (except in Germany of course), and instead of leaving a hole, it increased the variety it seems. Cool stuff! :)

here's a partial list

no english version, sorry. but the table should be easily readable even w/o a translator

Fact is that, after the switch off of RAI MW transmitter, the government changed the laws/regulations and nowadays, anyone willing to can setup an MW transmitter, by the way location, power and timing will be subject to checks and approval, but aside from that there are not so much restrictions so a lot of low power (but even higher one) station started appearing

That's quite a lot! Next to make room: TalkSports leaves a couple of frequencies (not overly sad about that one personally).
