nothing special, Jock, just some hopefully useful ideas, check if one of them may be applied in practiceJock Elliott wrote: ↑Fri Sep 30, 2022 4:21 pm Wow, Andrew, just wow!

As for the LoG (Loop on Ground), check these

to have an idea of what to expect from such a simple, invisible antenna

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea
let me know...
as a note, a good combo for your QTH could be a LoG for the lower frequencies (lower SW, MW and below) and a SULA for SW and up to VHF, such a setup would give you an extensive bands coverage with just two antennas !
Also, your preamp/preselector may work pretty well with a LoG, so it could be an additional interesting test, just... use plastic or wood stakes to keep the LoG wire down on ground, don't believe those who suggest to raise it or use metal stakes, those just didn't understand the LoG, mind me

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea
Jock, any update regarding outdoor antennas ?
Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea
Maybe not so goofy,
For decades as a renter and home owner, in every room I have used for radio receiving, I put up an 'alarm foil loop' around the perimeter of the room at the top of the walls bringing the foil down to the termination blocks near the listening position. Painting over the foil has no impact on performance. I currently use this method out in my wife's gardening shed for listening away from the powered house on portables.
