I prefer SSB voice, and I like listening to aircraft (Gander, for example) and marine (which seems to be rare at my location).

Can you dangle 20 feet of wire from a window and bring it back in when you're done? I don't live in a highrise faraday cage, but I, too, have an indoor antenna (50 feet of wire run around the ceiling of an 8 x 12 room. I can't decide whether the B-40 looks positively agricultural or it's something that came out of a Russian missile silo.
It looks like it is designed to survive a "significant event."

In my humble opinion, it's the Japan Radio NRD-515. Functional, utilitarian, without looking cheap.
