Re: What is this burst emission on shortwave?

Hi I like experiment building my own radios: crystal sets, regeneratives with transistors and tubes, etc. Some months ago made a crystal radio with double tunning circuit: https://sbj.edu.mx/crystal-receiver/emilio-crystal-receiver.jpg This night i forgot turn off the audio amplifier (the box with ...

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea

As for the LoG (Loop on Ground), check these http://radio-timetraveller.blogspot.com/2022/05/the-loop-on-ground-antenna-for-noise.html https://frugalradio.com/my-loop-on-ground-ham-antenna-worked/ https://rudys.typepad.com/files/630m-log-notes.pdf to have an idea of what to expect from such a simple...

nothing special, Jock, just some hopefully useful ideas, check if one of them may be applied in practice

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea

Jock, here are some coarse ideas which you may consider

from left to right, top to bottom; the LoG, the Marconi T, a miniwhip and an inverted L, sizes aren't to scale, just to give you an idea of the general setup

Re: The SULA antenna

That is the same as I made my one Now I'm confused, if your support pole is 3m and your cross structure is above the pole, then the height of the bottom corner of the SULA should be about 3m from ground... then ok, you tested the SULA inside so no support pole, the antenna sits near ground and suff...

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea

"Also since it will be invisible and won't be an obstacle and since it will effectively reduce the noise a lot on lower frequencies" -- music to my ears. Once a year, we get winter here at my location. I don't suppose snow and/or ice will affect the performance of the LOG? Snow won't affe...

;)
well, it does, if you check the image you'll see that the support pole is 3m, and at the top of it there's the PVC pipes structure supporting the loop :D

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea

as for the T antenna, an alternate config (if you aren't going to lay down a LoG) may be the one shown in the image below t-bar01.png the leg of the "T" goes down to some inches above ground, there it is connected to the BalUn, the other binding post of the BalUn goes to some radials sprea...

As for the SULA setup, all the data can be found here

Re: Perhaps goofy antenna idea

The LOG antenna idea is intriguing. Also since it will be invisible and won't be an obstacle and since it will effectively reduce the noise a lot on lower frequencies - Left corner of house to downspout: approx. 16 ft - Downspout to right corner of house: approx 19.5 ft. - height of gutter above gr...
