Re: Radio Apintie Surinam

sometimes you have to get your own answers...in a series of e-mails with the director of Radio Apintie I was informed that the shortwave transmitter is off the air and they do not intend to reactivate it.

another country gone.

Re: Radio Apintie Surinam

March 21, 2019 on 4,990 kHz was the last reported logging so far as I can tell from research.

Apintie was heard from an KiwiSDR in Brazil pretty much all night during that period.

If anyone has anything newer, I would appreciate knowing about it. Thanks!

Re: The small SWL beam (1...30 MHz)

just in case we all forget, which tends to happen too often, I want to say a giant "Thank You" for all the work you are putting in on this. I can't admit to understanding all of it, but I intend to construct one of these antennas when my wife, four-legged daughter and I move to Florida thi...

Re: The small SWL beam (1...30 MHz)

If I used 75 ohm coax, should I increase the resistor value to around 800?

Re: Favorite SWL programs

If you have a smartphone (I don't want to be presumptive), go to the app store and download the free Skywave Schedules app.

This will give you a pretty current database of shortwave stations and is very user friendly.

Radio Apintie Surinam

Does anyone know definitively if Radio Apintie is still on shortwave? They don't mention it on their website. I had one of my clients Facebook them in Dutch to ask and the young person who responded didn't know what shortwave was! The last time I saw anything in print was back in 2019 from a Brazili...

Re: selecting a new receiver

thanks again to all who are helping! I just read several reviews on the AirSpy HF+ and it seems to be the answer. High performance in a small package. I have a Bonito RadioJet that my daughter gave me many years ago, but could never get the thing to work? I value all your opinions and will get back ...

Re: selecting a new receiver

Thanks to all who have responded. The NRC-535D is getting "tired," kind of like myself. Keys sticking, seeming loss of some sensitivity (though I don't have anything comparable to test) and maybe it's just time for something newer. No garden space at the new house; all the outside is pool/...

selecting a new receiver

A big question for all of you... My wife and I are moving to our new home in Palmetto, Florida this fall. At the same time, it may be time to replace my NRD-535. I cannot install a permanent antenna due to HOA rules, but I could potentially use a loop outdoors and then bring it in. I do have a porta...
