Re: Balcony antenna

Well I got done designing the hardware to hold my stealth antenna. If anyone is interested in the 3D .STL file or just checking out the photo, the link is below.

Re: A modern day cry$TAL RADIO RECEIVER WITH CLA$$.

I know what you mean. Interestingly it's on sale for 47% off (as I write this post) for "only" $99.99. I'd consider paying that price if it came pre-assembled. There is no way with my arthritis I'd ever get that loop wound.

A modern day cry$TAL RADIO RECEIVER WITH CLA$$.

I found a neat little crystal radio kit on Amazon and it's not an ugly one either, but oh the price makes it something I'll not be buying.

Re: Balcony antenna

Forty years ago I lived for a year in a small flat on the third floor of a house with restrictions on antennas etc. So I made a similar loop antenna using 3mm copper wire. The circumference was about 9 meters, and I used a resistor of 1 kOhm. Antenna could not be seen from the ground unless you kne...

Yeah, but I'm trying to be as stealthy as possible. I think I'll go with a few 3D printed eyelets printed in the same color as the building.

Re: Balcony antenna

I already found an enclosure for the balun you recommended. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2152913 That enclosure isn't waterproof, you should use a waterproof enclosure for the termination resistor and for the balun, as for the latter don't connect the antenna wire directly to the balun, instea...

Oh, I forgot to add one that I really drooled over back in the day, but it was way to expensive for this kids (at the time) pocketbook.

Re: A nice and simple regen receiver

My first Regen Rig was a Radio Shack Globe Patrol kit that I built back in 1977. It was an anemic little radio, but I was still able to pull in Radio Nederland, Deutche Welle, the VOA, HCJB among others. I regretted getting rid of it when I enlisted in the USAF, but a few years ago I paid through th...

Re: What does your listening post look like?

The antenna system is still a work in progress. I'm currently using the lame little dipole that came with the RTL-SDR for the RSP1 and a vertical for vhf/uhf on the RTL-SDR. I'm guessing you asked that question before you saw my other thread message in which you helped me quite a bit. I'm also takin...
