Re: What is the best indoor antenna for SWLing?

You must be reading my mind. I did try the NooElec Preamp on the YouLoop powered by my RSP1A's Bias-T. It does improve some signals, even indoors. However, the model I use covers 20MHz-4GHz. I am yet to acquire something like an LNA4HF. I am starting to think I have a problem? well, the regul...

Re: What is the best indoor antenna for SWLing?

I have an original Airspy YouLoop, and to be honest, I have seen little success anywhere other than at my local mountain summit. That is not to say it doesn't work, as it performs similar to my telescopic antennas. A way to boost the YouLoop signal a bit, if needed, may be adding a small preamp lik...

Re: What is the best indoor antenna for SWLing?

My living arrangement makes it difficult to install an outdoor antenna. Recently I have been looking into indoor antennae. I'm wondering what my options are? I have an MLA-30+, but I seem to prefer the form factor of the Deshibo GA-450. What other options might I consider? Ideally, a short run of c...

Re: 10-meter rig recommendation

Condo living in the District of Columbia doesn't allow for much of an antenna, but I think I can discreetly get away with a 10-meter dipole on the balcony which brings me to my question: Anyone have a recommendation for a 10-meter QRP rig that allows both SSB and CW? Say, $200-$250 or so? can't you...

Re: LoG antenna trick

Not to over-think anything.. but 'ground level' really means - what? 2-inches, 4-inches, or ?? above ground? Looks like something fun to try. Thanks! on the ground means on the ground, and... yes, the first time I saw that I thought it was some other "magic antenna", it isn't, mind me, ju...

Re: LoG antenna trick

Simple yet effective ideas. I have the needed materials and I am getting ready to assemble this LOG soon, so timely post. If you don't have a 9:1 balun with galvanic isolation, you may pick one of those https://www.nooelec.com/store/balun-one-nine-v2-barebones.html they'll work just fine, by the wa...

Re: What's the best-looking shortwave tabletop receiver?

Andrew, I can't decide whether the B-40 looks positively agricultural or it's something that came out of a Russian missile silo. It looks like it is designed to survive a "significant event." Cheers, Jock Well, if was designed to be used on UK and AU warships and submarines ... then, as f...
