Re: Balun One Nine: cutting R1

Thank you, Egil. I guess I should clarify my question: How do I physically cut the resistor? Score across it with a knife? see here https://swling.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/balun_back.jpeg you just use a cutting blade to cut the circuit trace, then use a multimeter to check if the two sid...

A nice and simple regen receiver

If someone here likes fiddling with a soldering iron, here's the schematic for a regen https://www.aa5tb.com/regen.html https://www.aa5tb.com/regen2.gif I'm posting it just since I like how well it's designed while being simple, let me start from the input stage, the common gate JFET does multiple d...

simplest antenna

do you have some length of old coax sitting in a corner ? Do you need a "cheap and dirty" antenna to use at whatever location ... even to transmit ? Well, read on :D Pick your coax, be it RG58, RG59, RG6 or whatever. as long as you know its characteristic impedance, say 50.or 75 Ohm, now ....

Re: The Belka (-DSP/-DX/-v3) appreciation thread

There were no thunderstorms announced,I couldn't see or hear any lightning (in the radio) but apparently the air was full of surplus electrons or something, causing static buildup on the whip, which then got shunted to my finger, then to the roof metal (or everything vice versa, not a physicist). 1...

Re: selecting a new receiver

AAAaaaand, I just placed an order for a MFJ-1886 loop antenna, ending days of confusion and uncertainty. Good pick, even if I'm not a huge fan of wideband active loops, now if you want to let it work as it should, try putting it outside; a yard, a balcony or if possible the roof will be good spots,...

Balcony antenna

Here's an antenna for the apartment dwellers, all one needs to install it is a balcony, the antenna is shown here https://i.postimg.cc/sXX3rnwT/balcloop.png as you can see it's a loop, the antenna is made using thin insulated wire (1.5mm / AWG #14), at the center of the bottom side there's a small w...

The LoG (Loop on Ground), a take from N6LF

Let me start with a link to the original antenna design, just to put things in perspective http://www.kk5jy.net/LoG/ now, having built and tried several of them I find those antenna pretty good in case one lives in a QRM affected area, one may not believe it at first or even think that the antenna i...
